Here's just one of the reports: Rhodes goes far enough with anti-Hillary tirade to get herself suspended from AAR, reportedly, indefinitely.
What was she thinking?
And did she miscalculate the backlash she would have to endure taking on the Clinton camp? Forget that, what about the 45% of the Democratic electorate that actually supports Hillary? Did she think their calls to her bosses at AAR wouldn't start to add up, against her?
This is what I'd like to think. She got smart, or lucky.
Maybe she wanted out of her AAR contract to work for I don't know....Nova M...with Mike Malloy? Live in beautiful downtown Scottsdale and broadcast from 1480 KPHX? Or how about just move back to Florida and live with family, broadcasting from her own comfy home studio?
We'll talk about it this weekend on my show Action Point (something I've been avoiding since she became an Obama proxy).
Regardless, enjoy the Youtube video and take note: her hair looks great!

| What if, and I know it seems like a long shot, but what if Hillary is the nominee? Just what would Randi do then? Not only that; how after her rant would she promote Hillary in the General Election? It was completely unnecessary for her to bash Hillary and Ferraro with such vulgar language. The blatant viciousness exhibited from Randi Rhodes and a lot of Obama's supporters is bad for the Democratic Party. All the bad comments and divisions within the party is sure to give the Republicans a win in November. |

| Randi just misspoke. That's all she has to say and all is forgiven just like Hillary and Tuzla. |

| Speaking personally, I have not felt conflicted about my opinion regarding Rhodes radio attacks on Hillary; when they were over-the-top destructive, they were disrespectful to Hillary supporters. After all, Clinton might like to have another Senate race if she fails this election! As a professional talent I think she demeaned her self-proclaimed job as a "truth" teller. Opinions are "truth" of a personal interpretation. From the point of view that she was telling personal "truth" --her conviction that Hillary would lose to McCain and was therefore bad for Democrats in general and the country at large, she was acting congruently with her personal truth. I find her presumption, to attempt to interfere in the right of a candidate to exercise his or her pursuit of the presidency, regardless of the outcome, deeply troubling. At its core her behavior presumes democracy can not be trusted, the process of the Democratic party's nominee selection can not be trusted-- in fact, that the American people can not be trusted-- with the important task of selecting their own president. Having the influence on the left that she has, like Limbaugh on the right (who is equally out of line) expressing her opinion is simply not the same as you or even I. She sees herself as an opinion maker. But a king maker as well? I DO think the suspension has nothing to do with the SF event comments. That simply gave AAR an opportunity to get Randi's influence off the air. I don't think she will change her stand because to do so will damage her credibility. I do think she will end up on Nova M-- a network raising its cash from people who will pay to hear the unfettered free flow of opinions and biases reflecting their own. What it would do to solidify Nova M's brand as being left of Air America is inestimable. I can see it now: "Nova M, it's not your Mother's Air America!" |

| Well Bella, despite my being branded a blind Obama supporter by some at this site, I have asked exactly the same question, both here and on the air. You cannot say that both Democrats are so much better than McCain, and then turn around and work diligently to destroy one Democrat at the expense of the other. Simply put, if Hillary does pull this one, and that seems doubtful, Randi has then completely marginalized herself. Then Randi's 3 hours per day, 5 days a week, between the announcement of Hillary as the Democratic candidate and election day, will be a complete waste. What will she do, talk about the weather? Hey, I understand that Randi is allowed to have an opinion, just like everybody else. She says it all came to a head one day after the last tolerable Clinton offense had been endured, and then she could keeps silent no longer (as Popeye would say). She attempts to justify her speaking out by saying that numerically Hillary can't win, but you and I, and her too, know that in reality the superdelegates could throw the nomination to Hillary, even if she doesn't have the numbers of pledged delegates. So who is she lying to? Herself, I think. I also understand that she has the right to use her platform to attempt to convince us all to vote for Obama (she does have an audience in the remaining primary states that may still be swayed). However, if she was going to go this route, then she really had to make her case for Obama over Clinton, without destroying Clinton over McCain. She can't do that by saying Hillary is a lying whore. She has been operating over the edge for the last few weeks, and I denounce her for this. Doesn't mean I don't respect her, or that I don't think she isn't one of the best talents in radio (when she isn't chewing up and spitting out her phone callers). But it does mean I think she is completely wrong here. So why was she suspended? Surely not for using offensive language this private event with only adults in the audience. I think this was just an convenient excuse to slap her back or dump her overboard. First of all, AAR is not being managed by a bunch of Einsteins at present, and maybe they have been waiting for an excuse to break Randi's $1 million/year contract to save money with a cheaper host (Sam Seder is great, but I think his going rate is a lot more affordable). That's one theory. Another is that maybe Randi has a problem, either with her health, or the bottle, or both. One thing for sure, if I had an employee that only showed up for work half the time, even if she worked twice as hard when she did show up, I would start to get pissed off and wonder if I was getting my money's worth. So this may be their attempt to abrogate the contract and cut her loose. And then there is the question of external pressure upon the AAR management. Randi has been attacking a Clinton pretty vehemently lately, and I'm sure the AAR management has been getting an earful from the Clinton machine. In fact, I'm sure the current investors and managers at AAR are part of the Clinton machine. This is one way to silence a vocal critique that won't shut up. Anyway, I hope some of the "any speech is free speech" advocates at this site don't start trashing Randi and her foul mouth just because they hate obnoxious liberals. She had every right to say what she said -- it just wasn't very smart. |

For every thing she does that I don't care for, I think she makes up for many-fold with her talent, knowledge, excellent research, and humor. Bringing her on would be a tremendous coup, but can little NovaM afford to pay her even a fraction of her current salary? |

View this Comment Who knows but tonight Mike Mallow was beating the drum to support Nova M founders club repeatedly. Generally his message was that corporate America's anti-liberal bent was to blame for the original AAR company of Manzo, Drobney and Randi "failing" and how Nova M had created a people's network YOU could support, so the real liberals in America could have a voice. Maybe he's right. And it sure would make sense that while the audience was defending one of their own under attack, you'd solicit them for money to help fight the good fight. |

| First up, Malloy is an idiot. Nobody takes him seriously because he can not hold a conversation without throwing in comments that are a touch above grade school. He's a lunatic and gives the right a perfect example of the loony left. Randi on the other had is just a condescending bitch to nearly every caller she has. I may be sarcastic from time to time, but I don't say after the fact that the caller was stupid of an idiot as she has from time to time when not using other words. And what is that "hiaaa" she does when she answers. It's like she could care less that you called. Anyway, I actually agree with some of what MIC said. THE CLINTON machine is behind this more than likely. It's right out of their play book. |

You are not -- not even close. This is not a professional rivalry thing from me AA, it's just an objective fact. You are on the radio now, but you are not Mr. Radio. Even for the Bush League, you are just bush league. Randi Rhodes on the NovaM Network would be huge. But I doubt Malloy was pitching the Founders Club so that NovaM can raise money for Rhode's salary. I think he's has, and will continue to pitch, it for reasons of NovaM's continued survival. And he has ever reason to root for NovaM's trouncing of AAR. AAR did not treat him very well two years ago when they unceremoniously canned him. |

| UPDATE! Rhodes is claiming breach of contract! Curioser and curioser. If I wanted a TON of press about my move to a competitive network (like Nova M) who would I pay to publicize it? Oh wait-- I know, I know-- the whole damn Internet, FOX and every winger talk-show host from coast to coast and what would I pay them to do so? NOTHING!! They'd do it, happily!!! FOR ME!!! Wow. In Rhodes own stand-up vernacular, you can't make this f***king s**t up! |
